Thermoforming is a simple process that starts with a flat sheet of extruded
plastic as its raw material. That plastic is brought up to a temperature hot
enough to make it formable. It is then either draped or drawn over a mold to
create a specific shape.
Strip Heat Bending is a simple method that utilizes a narrow heating
element (or strip element) to create the form. A flat sheet of plastic
that is pre-machined will be formed by bending along the narrow
heated length of the sheet to any angle needed.
On the left is a model of a clear document holder using
1/8” clear acrylic
This production method is a very cost effective way to
make low to high quantities of a product that may be needed
as a simple document holder, housing or cover, that requires minimal
(and in some instances no) start-upor tooling costs
